石見焼は島根県江津市を中心とした地域で焼かれる陶器。

産地：島根県江津市、浜田市、益田市、大田市、津和野町など。
特徴：陶器としては硬質で吸水性が低い。また塩や酸に強い。

主な歴史：1763年／江津村の森田元蔵が製陶法を学び小物を作り始めた。1781年／備前から来た陶工により甕などの大型陶器の製法が伝えられる。1950年代／上水道の整備に伴い水瓶の需要が減るが耐塩性を活かし味噌や梅干しの保存容器として人気が出る。1994年／国の伝統的工芸品に指定。
Iwami ware is fired with a focus on areas Gotsu city, Shimane Prefecture.

Main History: 1763 / Gotsu Village of Motozo Morita studied ceramics technology, and started making small objects. 1781 / Is transmitted and how to make a large pottery jar by potter came from Bizen. 1950 / With less demand for improvement of water jar. Become a popular miso and umeboshi utilizing storage containers of salt, however. 1994 / designated traditional crafts of the country.
