越前焼は福井県越前町を中心とした地域、主に宮崎地区・織田地区で焼かれる陶磁器。日本六古窯の1つ。毎年5月に陶芸祭が開かれている。

特徴：耐火性、強度が高い炻器。轆轤を使わない「ねじたて成形」。

主な歴史：12世紀後期／常滑から技術が導入され、焼き締め陶を作り始めた。当時は常滑の影響が強く現れていた。14世紀ころ／玉縁状の口、撫で肩、肩の部分の刻文など越前独特の特徴が現れ出す。17世紀／瀬戸焼に押され一時衰退する。1900年前後／窯元の廃業が相次ぐ。1971年／「越前陶芸村」構想のもと、福井県陶芸館を開館。これを境に窯元、観光客が増加。1986年／国の伝統的工芸品に指定。
Echizen ware is fired around the town of Echizen, primarily Miyazaki, Oda area Fukui Prefecture. One of the six ancient kilns of Japan. The Pottery Festival is held every May.

Century 17 / Echizen ware fade temporarily pushed to Seto ware. Around 1900 / The pottery closed down one after another. 1971 / "Etizen Pottery Village" in concept, opened the Pottery Museum in Fukui Prefecture.
